Al2O3 Inorganic Membrane – Cross-Flow Filtration for Liquids
Alumina tubular membrane, 2nm‑1.4μm pores, cross‑flow for solid/liquid & liquid/liquid separation. Stable to 350°C, for industrial filtration.
This Al₂O₃ Inorganic Membrane is manufactured from high-purity alumina materials through a process of mixing, extrusion, and high-temperature sintering at over 1700°C. The membrane features a tubular multi-channel configuration with an asymmetric porous multilayer structure, comprising from inside to outside an active membrane layer, an intermediate layer, and a porous support base. Through proprietary formulation techniques, the active layer achieves fine pore sizes ranging from 2nm to 1.4μm with narrow pore size distribution, enabling precise solid-liquid separation and liquid-liquid separation at molecular levels. Available standard configurations include outer diameters from 12mm to 40mm, channel counts from 1 to 61, and standard lengths up to 1200mm, with membrane areas spanning 0.025m² to 0.575m² per element, while custom sizes are also configurable.
Operating on a dynamic cross-flow principle rather than dead-end filtration, this technology allows users to control filtration precision by selecting appropriate pore sizes, achieving accurate and consistent separation performance. The membrane exhibits excellent chemical stability against strong acids, alkalis, and organic solvents, with oxidation stability and abrasive resistance. Thermal stability reaches up to 350°C, and the membrane supports backwashing and thermal sterilization for easy regeneration. The material contains no hazardous substances and offers a long working life with stable performance over extended service periods.
This Al₂O₃ series is one of our core offerings within the broader Inorganic Membranes portfolio, complementing our advanced Silicon Carbide Ceramic Membranes for more extreme thermal environments. While applications in High-Temperature Gas-Solid Separation typically require SiC-based solutions, this Al₂O₃ membrane is specifically optimized for liquid-phase Liquid Filtration & Purification processes. It also serves as a stable pre-treatment option for systems that may later incorporate a VOCs Recovery Membrane for solvent management. Typical applications include fine chemical processing, pharmaceutical intermediate purification, food and beverage clarification, and industrial wastewater treatment.
